What rights do I have as the baby’s father?

As the birth father and/or legal father, you should be part of the adoption process. You have the right to be informed about the process and have input into the decisions.

What is the legal process?

Our counselor will outline all of your legal options. You have a few choices on how involved you want to be in the process. We’ll handle all of the legal paperwork in collaboration with our attorney; you won’t have to appear in court.

What if I don’t want to be involved?

We encourage our birth fathers to be involved at whatever level they’re comfortable. But having all relevant parties participate ensures the placement is safe and legal. We understand that sometimes this involvement needs to be handled separately and privately. Remember, vital health information about your child can be learned when you join in the adoption plan. This may be critically important to your baby as he or she grows up.
